I've spent a lot of time the past few months trying to convince other people to follow me, but to little avail. My reasons are somewhat unorthodox: I recognize the total natural meaninglessness of the universe, and try to compensate by creating artificial meaning. Comments: I am an educated and professional woman who has chosen to remain chaste until and if I marry. It has been very difficult and when I was younger I did receive a lot of harrassment. Now that I am older I realize that God is the one who knows best. While I hope to marry, I'm learning that if that doesn't happen it's ok. Just to let you know that you are not alone no matter how old you are; I work in geriatrics and have actually met women & men as old as 89 who have never had sex. These individuals are not "weird" or somehow socially inept. They have a deep commitment to God. Now, while I commend them for their conviction, I must admit to praying that I will eventually get married and have a loving relationship. For most, I believe that it will happen but if you don't find that someone special that God has found for you, keep in mind that it's ok. Marriage is a great and wonderful thing but remember you need to base your self-respect, self-esteem and overall feeling of self-worth on God and your relationship with him. If you think that marriage will provide you with these things, you will be unhappy. Well, I've written a great deal. I just feel greatful that many of the people reading this have the same type of committment and hope that I do. Have a wonderful & happy life!!!

Comments: I've posted on this guestbook before about my commitment to sexual abstinence, but I'd like to say something as an update of what I've decided to do, as a result of the Lord letting things happen on the abstinence e-mail list, very soon after I first started thinking about it. Well, I've decided that my first kiss will be at the front of a church and immediately preceded by the words, "...I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride." Most of my friends think I'm crazy, but purity is not a line that we should not cross, but rather a direction in life, and the Lord is taking me in that direction. I know that He will Bless my marriage if I keep my promise to Him. Any difficulties I experience because of wanting to do this, I know that there's more than adequate a reward for it from God, when I am married. Yes, the world opposes the idea, but I am freed from all the bondages and habits of this world, by the 1 and only Jesus Christ. The Lord keeps and strengthens me. I love the Lord, and the Lord loves me. And the Lord is going to make me the best husband I can be for my future wife. I know I am in a tiny minority of people who've chosen to wait until marriage to both kiss and make love, but with God on my side, I am in a majority! If anyone wants to discuss this level of abstinence, please e-mail me. Also, please sign up for the abstinence list - we have some really good discussions, and there are a lot of really nice people there, too. P.S. If anyone who reads this isn't a Christian: Don't think that I'm doing this because of religion. I have never seen or heard of anything in the Bible about waiting until marriage to kiss, and no church leader ever suggested it to me. God did it Himself as a personal calling to me. Christianity is not a religion, IT'S A PERSONAL, LIVING, INTIMATE, LOVING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
