The Legend of the Fall
THE LEGEND OF THE FALL
There’s a panic in the willow
Something isn’t right
A suicidal hunger
That puts the birds to flight
Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody help us now
Something’s going under on the inside
Lies and secrets thrive behind the wall
Silver tongues will carve their words to justify
The legend of the fall
Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody save us now
They crushed the hand that feeds us
With synergistic greed
Impunity, collusion, and control
Is corrupting every seed
Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody help us now
Something’s going under on the inside
Stones and arrows can’t break through the wall
The lunatic denies the call to rectify
The legend of the fall
Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody save us now
Something’s going under on the inside
Hell and fury burn behind the wall
Those who find the fountain come to realize
The legend of the fall
Only God can stop it now
God save us now

Fun Facts about this song:
-This was the 3rd consecutive monthly music release during the Year of the Groove.
-Ellen wrote this song as a metaphor for the corruption in the American food industry. It was used to help promote the ballot initiatives in Oregon and Colorado for the labeling of genetically modified foods leading up to the elections in 2014.
-The song structure is unusual in that what many would consider the "prechorus" happens both before and after the chorus.
-Ellen said she wanted this song to have a dubstep bassline, so Kurt Goebel looked up an online tutorial to learn how.
-Individual instrumental stems of this song are available for people to do their own remixes on Amazon, iTunes, and BandCamp. People can also join the mailing list to get the basic stems for free from their Reverbnation player.
-Ellen wrote a blog entry telling the story of the song. Read it here.
